Jolly times and a delicious feast abound at Straits Café! 😀
Since being recently certified Halal, the buffet spread at Straits Café has fast become a favourite! This Christmas season, indulge in dishes from both East AND West. Savour the flavours of both worlds! A feast of East Meets West awaits!
One of the festive highlights you cannot miss is the Roast Turkey with Giblet & Cranberry Sauce. The tender and tasty Roast Turkey is sliced up ready to be enjoyed 😛 Best paired with some Roasted Vegetables and Potato Wedges!
Other WESTERN favourites on the Carving Station include the Roasted Beef Sirloin, Roasted Lamb Leg, Salmon Wellington, Honey Baked Chicken Ham and the Salt-Baked Seabass.
But they are definitely specials from the EAST that are just as appetizing –
This was one of the BEST dishes I ate at the Straits Café East Meets West Buffet! The Braised Duck with Soya Egg & Beancurd is a seemingly simple dish but hits all the right notes.
The duck was succulent, tender and was absolutely delicious especially when paired with the sauce. If you’re the type who normally avoids duck because you’re afraid of that ‘ducky taste/smell’ then you need not worry at all here. There is absolutely zero gamey taste 😀 The braised tofu and Soya Eggs complete this awesome serving.
I would not blame you for taking a few servings of this throughout your makan sesh. Because that’s what I did LOL
Plenty to choose from to start your feast right and proper at Straits Café of course. The Dim Sum and Kueh Pie Tee stations are always popular (Mein Bruder’s fave is the Siew Mai :P) as is the Keropok (more Sambal!).
You simply must head to the Noodles Station and enjoy a bowl or 3! The noodle dishes are normally on rotation daily so you have 2 options at at point. Default is the Authentic Singapore Laksa which is SEDAP!! ?. Look forward to other choices including Fried Hor Fun with Silky Egg Sauce, Mee Soto Ayam, Deep Fried Fish Slice Bee Hoon Soup, Mee Rebus, Prawn Noodles, Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun or Mee Siam!
Top on the list for many when visiting Straits Café is the Catch Of The Day spread which features the freshest seafood on ice. Take your pick of fresh and juicy Poached Shrimp, Snow Crab Legs, Short Neck Clams and Half Shell Green Mussels! Be sure to enjoy with the special sauces on the side for maximum shiokness 😀
And speaking of SHIOK – visit for DINNER and enjoy UNLIMTED servings of LOBSTER at the Chilled Lobster Station! Remember, it’s gotta be for dinner and it’s available daily both weekdays and weekends!
A little off to the side, make some space for the Salads okay because they’re good too! I always love mixing up my own Rojak! The Mushroom Salad, Chicken Roulade and Caprese Pasta Salad were really good too. So many to choose from!
At first, I wanted to split up the sections between East & West but then I figured… whichever side it is, we’re gonna makan all of it lah right! Check out that line-up on the buffet spread! ?
A really good mix of both Asian and Western dishes to choose from. Some you don’t really see often and are REALLY AWESOME so you must have it while you can (like that Salted Egg Cream Sauce Lobster and that Egg Beancurd with Crab Meat!).
Other dishes you might see around (and should definitely indulge in) include Beef Steak, Chilli Prawn with Deep Fried Mantou, Sambal Squid,Pan Seared Duck Breast with Orange & Peach, Oven Roasted Chicken, Crispy Cereal Prawn, Oven-Baked Seafood, Shepherd’s Pie, Traditional Oxtail Stew *catches breath* Baked Fish with Lemon Buerre Blanc, Assam Curry Fish, Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Gratin Brussel Sprouts with Garlic Cream Sauce, Braised Ee Fu Noodles and the list goes on and on!
And guess what… there’s still DESSERT!!
For Durian lovers (like me!), this section alone is enough to get your mouth watering! A whole host of Desserts with Durian specially served up for your enjoyment! And the best part – everything is good!
From the Durian Pengat (which you know is a MUST HAVE) to the Durian Crepes and Tarts. What was a nice surprise was the Fudge Cake with Durian! YUMMY! 😀
And of course, the rest of desserts await too!
Talk about having a sweet ending to an already epic feast am I right? 😛
Festive goodies abound with the likes of the X’Mas Caramel Log Cake, X’Mas Cranberry Pudding and assorted Christmas Cookies. Look out for classics like the assorted Nonya Kueh and assorted Shooters too! Make sure you try some and don’t just attack the Durian okay LOL
