PrimaDeli – A Myriad of Mooncakes

Mooncakes time! The Mid-Autumn Festival is upon us and as you know, we do love us some mooncakes here at The Halal Food Blog and just though we’d share some that we tried recently 😀

PrimaDeli (and the Prima brand) is known for many things and over the years, their mooncakes have become very popular and for very good reason too! Not only are they Halal-certified, they also have a wide variety to choose from including some very interesting flavours too. In fact, this year they’ve got no less than 18 different types!

Mini Cookies & Cream Mooncake
Mini D24 Durian with Chocolate Mooncake

We had a go at their Mini Snowskin Mooncake range (which we first tried in 2014 and then again recently in 2017 because so sedap :D) which features 9 creative flavours including 3 new ones. You really get a mix of both Western and Local influences here which I really like.

I know the Mini D24 Durian with Chocolate is a big hit (I personally feel it’d be better without the chocolate) and they’ve got other popular flavours like Mini Cendol, Mini Cookies & Cream, Mini Mango Cream Cheese, Mini Pandan Lotus and Mini Black Sesame Almond.

But the 3 new ones also are pretty good!

Mini Earl Grey Mooncake

3 new Mini Snowskin Mooncake flavours!
Mini Earl Grey
Mini Orange with Ginger

They’ve got 3 brand new flavours for their Mini Snowskin Mooncakes – Earl Grey, Mini Orange with Ginger and Mini Espresso with Caramel 😀

I was actually really excited to try the Earl Grey one because that’s my favourite type of tea. The Earl Grey flavour is primarily in the mousse filling so I reckon that many might find the flavour overwhelming especially if you’re not a fan of the flavour. As for me, I finished it all at one go 😛

I also quite enjoyed the Mini Orange with Ginger. The ginger bits are actually candied ginger and you don’t get any of that spicy ginger flavour actually.

I didn’t try the Mini Espresso with Caramel but my Darling Wife seems to be a big fan! I guess this is the one for all you coffee lovers out there.

But if you’re a purist and you prefer the traditional Baked Mooncakes, fret not. PrimaDeli also has a whole range of Baked Mooncakes in both regular and mini sizes too. You’ve got your usual suspects with salted egg yolks and melon seeds galore of course. And something special – the mooncakes are ‘LESS SUGAR’! 🙂

PrimaDeli’s Mini Snowskin Mooncakes are priced around $5.90-$6.00 each. Our recommendation is get the Royal Gift Set priced at $52.80 and it comes in a really pretty box too! Great as a gift! Prices vary between $6.00-$14.70 each for the Baked Mooncakes but consider the Heavenly Mini Gift Set at $53.80.

Thank you PrimaDeli for sending over these really eye-catching and tasty mooncakes! 😀
