We’re back in Osaka! 皆さん、こんにちは!
Here’s another gem from our most recent trip to Japan 😀
Matsuri is actually really popular… if you’ve heard of it that is. They’ve got a really extensive menu featuring all your favourite Japanese dishes. From Sashimi and Sushi to Ramen and even some pretty interesting side dishes too. But the highlight of this place is probably getting to make your own Takoyaki!
You literally get to make your own serving of Takoyaki from scratch. Don’t worry – the staff is on hand to guide you along LOL so you won’t mess up your Takoyaki (hopefully). A tray of 10 Takoyaki is ¥680 by the way. They also have other options like Seafood Okonomiyaki and Seafood Yakisoba (don’t worry – you won’t have to cook it yourself LOL)
Overall, I’d say it’s a pretty interesting experience! And who knows, you might even develop the skills to MAKE THE BEST TAKOYAKI EVAH! 😛 I’d also like to take the opportunity to announce that we will be selling Takoyaki at this year’s Ramadhan Bazaar. Kidding. Or am I? *poker face*
They REALLY have a massive selection of Starters and Side at Matsuri. Quite a few Chicken dishes like the Simmered Chicken & Potato and Sweet & Sour Chicken are really good. I’d personally recommend the Fried Chicken with Rice Vinegar & Tartar Sauce – great combination of flavours!
The Mushrooms with Ponzu was good too. Other vegetable options include a few assorted pickled vegetables and also the all-time classic Edamame.
Last but not least, you simply have to consider some of the options on the ‘Cutlet’ menu. When they say ‘cutlet’, it’s more like a Kushiyaki 😀 Everything from seafood to vegetable and of course, get the chicken cutlet.
They also have a Rice Burger which has kinda like a chicken katsu as a patty. With loads of sauce which as really nice 😛 It can be a bit messy but don’t be afraid to get right in there with your fingers okay! Finger-licking good!
But alas, onto the mains!
Woot woot Ramen! I think it’s also probably because it was our first proper meal after settling down in Osaka plus it was super cold outside. So a piping hot bowl of Ramen sounded absolutely wonderful at that point LOL
They had 3 types to choose from – Mild, Spicy and Wasabi. So we had one each to try out everything. If you don’t really fancy anything spicy, then the Mild is definitely the one for you. But having said that, the Spicy is not exactly super spicy lah but it’s definitely SHOIK!
The Wasabi was… basically the Mild Ramen but with some Wasabi on the side 😛
I ended up asking for more Wasabi to add in because I really wanted the flavour to pack a punch.
Last but not least, we ordered the Rice Set which was actually on a smaller menu. Which reminds me, look out for the specials which Matsuri has from time to time. I t can be anything from Kare and even Teppanyaki! Depends lah on your luck what specials they having at that time 😀
Anyways, the Rice Set was actually really satisfying. The fried rice has a serving of Chicken Karaage plus a fried egg for good measure. Definitely a good choice for those who miss their Nasi Goreng back home 😛
They’ve also got desserts for you at Matsuri so you’re in for a sweet treat to end your meal. They’ve got a few choices including some cakes. This Taiyaki was also from their Special menu and was quite a treat.
Best enjoyed while piping hot! Crisp pancake and sweet red bean filling!
As you can see, there really is a lot to enjoy at Matsuri. Their menu is so extensive that it’s bound to suit everyone’s tastes. In fact, I think the only section of the menu we didn’t order from was the Sushi and Sashimi! The venue is quite modest but still worth a visit! So drop by when you’re in Osaka and enjoy a comforting meal at Matsuri!
PS they have souvenirs and Halal snacks which you can buy to bring back for family and friends too!
