With the festive season upon us, sumptuous feasts await! At Katong Kitchen, indulge in a Heritage Christmas Feast of delicious proportions! After all, ’tis the season to be jolly right? Well, in our books, that means time to makan! 😛
Katong Kitchen is renowned for their extensive yet diverse buffet spread. As you can probably tell by their name, they specialize in quite a few traditional Nonya dishes and such. But the best part is that they offer much more than that and you’ll even find some interesting fusion creations along the way.
For their Heritage Christmas Feast, some of their festive specials showcase their creative fusion ideas – several of the dishes incorporate local flavours into festive favourites!
A great example is the local twist they’ve incorporated into their Carving Station creations available on the weekends! I know we all love a good Roast Turkey right? Well, at Katong Kitchen, they’ve gone a level up with Roasted Turkey Percik!
You can see that generous Percik sauce coating the Turkey. I’m pretty sure that Percik flavour is going to be well incorporated into this dish 😀 But that’s not all!
Satay Marinated Chicken Ham and Rendang Roasted Ribeye also adorn the weekend Carving Station line-up. As a meat lover, I cannot tell you how happy I am to see this trio just waiting to be devoured 😛
Rendang Roasted Ribeye had hints of Rendang flavour but you definitely still enjoy that great beefy flavour we expect from a great roast. The Satay Marinated Chicken Ham is equally impressive so be sure to get an extra thick slice ok!
There are also a few special accompaniments that are the perfect pairing to the tasty trio –
I know it’s been a great selection so far with the festive specials at the Carving Station but don’t forget – that’s just the beginning! There’s plenty more to be enjoyed and we’re going to run it all down for you 😀
And what better place to start than the Salads and Starters section!
The Seafood on Ice is always a hot favourite and they’ve got a great selection for you at Katong Kitchen. Take your pick from Scallops, Prawns, Mussels, Snow Crab Legs, Gong-Gong and Flower Crabs.
As special on weekend dinners, you can even enjoy Poached Boston Lobster!
Some other ideas to whet your appetite are familiar faves at Katong Kitchen. A MUST HAVE is the Katong Laksa for sure! SEDAP GILER and you’ll have a hard time resisting the urge to get more than 1 helping 😛 They actually have at least 2 noodles available – other choices include Lor Mee (!!), Mee Soto Ayam or Mee Rebus.
They’ve got a special Kueh Pie Tee for the season – try the Lobster/Crab Meat Kueh Pie Tee for a twist on a traditional treat. But you cannot go wrong with some Emping paired with their epic Sambal Belacan. SHIOK!
If you’re into Salads, they’ve got a few to choose from too. Besides the DIY option where you can mix up your own salad, check out some of the other options too.
There’s actually a few more lah so you can tell they really have a wide variety. You’re definitely spoiled for choice at Katong Kitchen… even the Salads selection is so extensive! Power or what!
Anyways, on to the Mains!
At Katong Kitchen, I always start off my Mains with their Ayam Buah Keluak! It’s actually not a very common dish to find (at least the Halal version lah anyways!) and they have a really good one on the line-up there. If you’ve never tried it before, this is a great chance!
The Cincalok Slipper Lobster has hints of Cincalok but it’s not really overpowering lah so don’t worry ok 🙂 The Codfish Otah is great and OH! You MUST TRY the Oxtail Rendang! CONFESSION: I only started liking Oxtail in the past few years recently and this is one of the dishes that kicked off my liking 😀 Great Rendang flavour and Oxtail just gives it a certain kick.
That’s actually just a fraction of the dishes you could be enjoying on the buffet line-up at Katong Kitchen! You have a good mix of both Asian and Western (and some fusion of course!) dishes to savour. Some dishes are rotated regularly but you’re guaranteed of great choices every time.
Other dishes you might see (which are not featured above) include Eurasian Devil’s Chicken Curry (!!), Slow Braised Oxtail Stew, Black Pepper Squid, Chili Slipper Lobster, Salted Egg, Slipper Lobster, Ayam Percik, Signature Hokkien Mee, Lamb Satay Goreng< Sambal Petai Cuttlefish, Nasi Bunga Telang and loads more!
But let’s not forget that one special section we always reserve a special space for in our tummies.. I’m talking about the DESSERTS! 😀
First things first – MAKE SURE YOU WHACK THE DURIAN PENGAT 😛
(But be gracious and don’t take more than you can consume lah ok)
I know the Cempedak Creme Brulee is going to be a big hit too! Indulge in the rich Chocolate Pudding and Yule Log Cake if you’re chocolate lovers for sure. Christmas Mince Fruit Pie, Citrus Cheesecake, Panna Cotta with Raspberry Coulis, Banana Creme Brulee and loads of cakes, tarts and even Nonya Kueh too.
Katong Kitchen is easily accessible and is a great choice for your year-end festive gathering. Be it with your colleagues, friends or family – there’s a great selection to enjoy and at an affordable pricing too. Their special Heritage Christmas Buffet is available for a limited time only.
