There are plenty of options at Seah Im Food Center but I think there one of the most famous would be Farasha! This crowd favourite stall may be unassuming but the long queues are a sure indication of its popularity. Over the years, the signboard may have changed but the peoples’ craving remains the same π
The menu is basically variations of the same formula but it works. In fact, it works so well that after years of visiting Seah Imm, I find myself making a beeline for Farasha. And more often than not I’m always ordering the same thing.
I’m 100% sure that the Nasi Goreng Ayam is the most popular order at Farasha. I mean, you have to agree that if you’ve been in the queue at Farasha, majority of the people in the queue with you would have ordered this right?
The Sambal Nasi Goreng has a pretty decent spicy kick to it. But the big star of the dish is definitely the Ayam Goreng. That golden brown crispy fried chicken thigh is SHIOK. In fact, the Ayam Goreng at Farasha is the constant star in pretty much all of their dishes π Topped off with those crispy crumbs and you’ve got a winner *chef’s kiss*
PS that sambal on the side has got quite a kick too!
If you’re not in the mood for a spicy fried rice then perhaps the regular Nasi Ayam Penyet might be a better choice for you. This actually seems like a pretty popular choice too probably because that fried chicken is the prize LOL
Besides these 2 rice dishes, you can also find Nasi Ayam Sambal, Nasi Ayam Black Pepper too. The Nasi Goreng range also includes Tom Yam, Black Pepper, Seafood, Kampung, Ikan Masin and Beef variations too. But many readers recommended trying those flavours with the noodles instead.
And to be perfectly honest – if the readers did not recommend it then I would probably have stuck to my Nasi Goreng Ayam all the way π
So these 2 dishes were the TOP recommendations for our readers on what I should makan at Farasha. Besides the usual Nasi Goreng Ayam of course π
The Maggie Goreng Tomyam Ayam was actually not bad and you get that Tomyam flavour for sure. Serving is actually very generous too so you might even consider sharing. I kinda regret not also trying the Mee Goreng since I was trying out new stuff on the menu though.
I also tried the Kway Teow Goreng Ayam and I reckon it was my least favourite. People might fancy this since it’s a ‘lighter’ option compared to rice or noodles. But I guess I didn’t quite get that kick both flavour-wise and texture-wise. Maybe I’ll try it again next time and it’ll be better.
Actually, that might be my biggest gripe about Farasha. Depending on when you visit, your food may just be that little bit different. This is mainly because during different times of the day, a different person might be the one frying up your food. This is, of course, unavoidable because they have shifts and can’t expect people to work all the way right?
And don’t get me wrong – I’m not saying this is a bad thing. I’m just saying that after awhile, you kinda know who’s behind the work at certain times of the day. And from that, you’ll know who fries it up the way you like best π
Anyways, it’s all about that Ayam Goreng right? And that’s always sedap giler.
PS I’ve read many comments and also received some DMs talking about how we always have to wait when it’s close to their shift-change timing. Because that means we gotta wait for next shift to come in before they will take our order.
I just wanna say that I understand and I also kena before a few times. But what to do.. gotta change shift means gotta change shift lah right. If got the time, then I guess we wait patiently lah π
