Eatzi Gourmet Bistro Part II

Do you remember the first time you visited Eatzi Gourmet? Well, I remember my first time there way back when they had an outlet at Simei Eastpoint. It was big news because Eatzi Gourmet was a concept by the JP Pepperdine Group which, if you didn’t know, is also behind Jack’s Place! We finally got a Halal version of Jack’s Place!

Well, Eatzi Gourmet has come a long way over the years and although the Eastpoint outlet is no longer operational, they now have TWO outlets we can head down to enjoy their great selection! One outlet is at SAFRA Yishun (which you may remember us covering awhile back) and their latest outlet is now open at Paya Lebar Square!!

We have had plenty of memorable dishes at Eatzi Gourmet Bistro in the past and we were excited to see (and obviously makan) what new additions there were to their already extensive menu! πŸ˜€

Eatzi Sharing Platter ($15.50)

You know how much we love sharing platters right? It’s a great way to sample a few different appetizers before everyone tucks into their mains! And of course, if a particular something on the platter is really really sedap, can always order extras LOL

The Eatzi Sharing Platter is supposed to be good for 2 pax but to be honest, it’s a really generous serving so you might even be able to share it between 3-4 people.

Start with Golden Chicken Wings, Onions Rings, some Deep Fried Mushrooms, Spring Rolls and some Crispy Calamari Bites for good measure. See what I meant by GENEROUS serving πŸ˜›

Nasi Goreng with Egg, Prawns & Chicken Satay ($11.50)

If you’re feeling like something that’s familiar but still has a bit of an Eatzi twist, then the Nasi Goreng with Egg, Prawns & Chicken Satay might be a good start.

Eatzi Gourmet Bistro has quite a few dishes on their menu that have that local flavour that we all look for. In fact, this is a big plus because there’s bound to be some people in the group who may not be feeling like having Western fare (although the Western fare at Eatzi is really good!!). A great example – when you visit for a meal with family and some of the elders may prefer a more ‘traditional’ and familiar dish πŸ˜€

Other local-inspired dishes include Nasi Goreng with Half Spring Chicken, Seafood Bee Hoon and Seafood Tom Yam with Rice.

And speaking of local flavours…

Nasi Lemak Steak ($19.90)

Well it looks like Nasi Lemak is still in! πŸ˜€
Now, some of you may be going “Not Nasi Lemak again…” but hey – Eatzi Gourmet has a version that pairs this iconic dish with one of their best offerings – steak!!

What I do like about this dish is that you get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Both the local Asian roots along with a good ol’ fashioned steak that is sure to hit the spot. But having said that, I actually enjoyed this dish but in 2 separate parts. As in together, but not together. Does that make any sense? LOL

Okay, what I mean is that the Nasi Lemak was tasty on its own. And the steak was really good on its own too. After all, Eatzi Gourmet (and Jack’s Place) is renowned for having some of the best steaks out there am I right?

The Nasi Lemak came with all the usual suspects – the tasty ‘lemak’ rice, cucumber, ikan bilis and peanuts and a really great sambal on the side too. Fried chicken came in the form of these crispy little bites and as a bonus, there was the Chicken Rendang Bolognese (not sure why they call it a Bolognese though).

And at the other end of the spectrum, we have this amazing 100% natural grass-fed N.Z. Ribeye Steak. Trust me – this was really a prime cut of meat!

One of the best things about this dish is the price! You get ALL of that for just $19.90. Just to point out – that is an introductory, limited time only price. But even then, the regular price is $22. STILL A GREAT DEAL!!

So I enjoyed them part by part (for the record, I makan-ed the Nasi Lemak first and then makan-ed the steak) and maybe you’ll enjoy them together. Bottom line is that you get a combination of 2 really great dishes in 1!

Mixed Grill ($22.00)

If you’re looking for a combination of things but maybe you wanna keep it all within the ‘Western’ spectrum then we highly recommend the Mixed Grill. Calling all you carnivores – you’ve really gotta check this one out!

MEAT MEAT MEAT!!

What’s there not to love am I right? πŸ˜›
You’ve got beef, lamb and chicken steaks all coming together (on a sizzling hot plate no less) with some sausages and turkey bacon strips along for the ride as well.

Enjoy a serving of veggies (because they are good for you) and even a fried egg but the real winner on the side is that dressed Baked Potato! I’m taking about the works here!! Sour cream and chives are a must of course but some of you might be wondering about those meaty bits right?

FUN FACT: Although it’s commonly referred to as “imitation bacon bits”, there is absolutely ZERO “bacon” in there. In fact, the one used at Eatzi Gourmet are made of… Turkey Bacon!! πŸ˜€

Braised Lamb Shank ($20.50)

Y’all know I love to save the best for last. But in recent posts, I end up posting some of the best stuff at the top of the post. But now, I get the chance to again post the best dish at the near end of the post. I present to you – the Braised Lamb Shank – in my opinion, one of the best things on the menu at Eatzi Gourmet.

This is one tender lamb shank. I’m talking about fork-tender, melt-in-your-mouth, sedap giler lamb shank here. No joke. I’m not sure how long they slow cook this bad boy but whatever it is, they’re doing it right.

FACT: This is one of the BEST Braised Lamb Shanks I have ever had. EVAH.

As always, it seems like we tried a lot of dishes but in actual fact, we have barely scratched the surface of the menu at Eatzi Gourmet! But one thing is for sure, we had some really good food!

What else is on the menu? They’ve got pretty much everything you might expect at a gourmet bistro. Pasta dishes, seafood (including a very popular Fish & Chips), prime cuts of N.Z. grass-fed Beef steaks (Tenderloin, Ribeye, Striploin and T-Bone in case you were wondering) and a whole host of appetizers, sides and even desserts too!

Needless to say, Eatzi Gourmet is going to be near the top of my list for when I wanna indulge in some really great, premium Western cuisine that although is of really great quality, will not burn a hole in your pocket πŸ˜€
