We all know how busy it can get these days and convenience is the name of the game. But convenience does not mean we need to sacrifice on quality. That is why I am SO happy I discovered The Travelling Spoon! ๐๐ผ Here is a brand of Ready-to-Eat meals that is not only simple but SEDAP too!
What’s even better – they will satisfy my ever-longing craving for oodles of noodles ๐. They’ve teamed up with 2 local heritage brands to bring us not just one but TWO noodle dishes for us to enjoy.
That’s right – The Travelling Spoon has teamed up with Qiu Lian Ban Mee and Chew Kee Soy Sauce Chicken. These brands been perfecting their signature dishes since 1988 and 1949 respectively! Together, they’ve packaged these delicious local flavours in Ready-to-Eat meals that will satisfy those cravings in a flash ๐.
Well, you’ve seen how pretty the dishes can look right? Now let me get down to the nitty gritty and arguably the most important part of this little taste test of mine – just how delicious and convenient are these RTEs The Travelling Spoon?
FUYOH my mouth is just watering as I type this out.. just thinking about these noodles makes me wanna head out and get more right now!
I’m talking about The Travelling Spoon x Qiu Lian Minced Chicken Dry Ban Mee ๐ฅ. I know Ban Mee is a big big favourite so if you’re a fan then this one is definitely for you! This Minced Chicken Dry Ban Mee is not only a breeze to prepare but also SHIOK to makan! Trust me – you don’t wanna miss out on this especially with how rare it is to find a Halal version of this dish.
So everything comes neatly packed into ‘layered compartments’ if I can call it that. All you need to do is remove the sleeve and microwave for 4 mins with the plastic cover on. Once it’s heated, remove the plastic cover. You give everything a good mixย and that’s it! You’re ready to enjoy!!
In this hearty serving of Qiu Lian Ban Mee, we’ve got minced chicken, mushrooms, sliced fishcake, chicken meatball plus fried shallots and ikan bilis to make this a hearty serving of Qiu Lian handmade noodles aka Ban Mee. Let’s not forget the key ingredient here – the chili ๐ฅ It’s got a mild spicy kick and some vinegary tartness to it an that’s what makes this noodle dish so sedap! Slurp to your hearts’ content ๐.
If you’re keen on something a little bit more ‘wet’ then perhaps the The Travelling Spoon x Chew Kee Braised Soy Sauce Chicken with Hor Fun might just be the one for you. It’s just as easy to prepare but no less satisfying than the Minced Chicken Dry Ban Mee that’s for sure.
The Chew Kee Braised Soy Sauce Chicken with Hor Fun comes with a hearty serving of thin rice noodles with the signature Chew Kee braised chicken, braised Tau Kwa plus some chiliย for extra kick! They even include some braised Quail eggs too (I love Quail eggs so much I could probably eat 50 ๐).
Everything comes in compartments as well so just a few simple steps and you’re ready to feast! Just remove the sleeve, pop in the microwave for 4 mins (with the plastic cover on). Once it’s heated up, tear off the plastic, mix everything up and enjoy!ย I particularly enjoyed the flavour of the braised ‘gravy’ which made this Hor Fun excellent for slurping up ๐.
I have got to say that these two offerings from The Travelling Spoon are actually pretty awesome. They pass the test for me in many aspects namely taste and convenience. Plus, for dishes that are rare in terms of Halal availability, I’d say they’re very reasonably priced.
They’re easy to find at 7-11 stores islandwide and you can literally be enjoying them a few minutes later. A quick reheat in the 7-11 microwave and you just need to find a quiet space nearby. You’ll be tucking into some delicious noodles in no time. I mean, you can see from the video that I literally enjoyed my noodles at the void deck beside the 7-11 LOL talk about super convenient lah ๐.
You can find The Travelling Spoon products at 7-11 stores islandwide for a limited time. They are available from now til the end of August 2022. Hopefully they’ll be available beyond that so we can continue enjoying them. And who knows – hopefully they are able to come up with more delicious dishes too! Be sure to follow them on social media to keep updated ok!
In the meantime, excuse me while I go back to slurping my Ban Mee ๐.
