Can you believe it’s been almost 5 years since we had our first taste of Srisun Express?? Oh my, how time flies!
So what’s happened in those 5 years? Well, Srisun Express has become of the most popular makan spots (especially for supper!) and points of lepak-ing around π The menu has also undergone some updates with plenty of your favourites still making the grade but plenty of new additions too!
Last but not least, they more outlets scattered across the island! The OG outlet at Hougang (where we visited Srisun Express for the first time!) may be no more but they now have 4 outlets for you to head to!
PS Srisun Express now DELIVERS!
So pull up a chair and have a hot Teh Tarik as we recap some of our favourites and introduce a few new classics! π
We all know and love the Srisun Specials (which we’ll touch on in a bit) but have you tried the Tikka Specials? You can now enjoy your Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, Kway Teow Goreng or Maggi Goreng with your favourite Tikka!
We tried the Nasi Goreng Tikka Special which has Nasi Goreng paired with tender, juicy Chicken Tikka. It’s actually a really good combination especially because you get that smoky grilled kick from the Tikka.
By the way, besides the Tikka variety, they also have Tandoori Specials (which comes with Tandoori Chicken) and also Tarik Specials (which come with Satay). But if you’re itching for some good ol’ classic gold – you can’t go wrong with the OG Goreng Specials.
The Mee Goreng Special will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first dish I tried at Srisun Express Hougang outlet when they first opened and also the last dish I had at the same outlet the night before it closed.
But hey, let’s face it – there’s just something so FUYOH about Mee Goreng paired with a hearty serving of Cheese Fries lah am I right? π Feel free to change to the noodles of your choice of course.
Something new on the menu at Srisun Express are the Tikka Tacos! Okay lah so the tacos are actually plain pratas but you get the idea right? π
Actually, they’re REALLY good! I tried both the Chicken and the Prawn Tikka Tacos which were fantastic. You get to enjoy that Tandoor flavour which is even better with the fresh greens (the onions play a big part!) and some Mango Chutney for extra kick. Highly recommended!
I think the Briyani at Srisun Express is underrated. This was the first time I was trying it and I have to say I was actually impressed!
The rice was tasty and just look at that amazing fried chicken! Top that off with Achar and a Sambal Egg and you’ve got a complete set. You could go for the Curry Chicken or the Mutton Briyani of course. But so far, the Fried Chicken Briyani is tops in my books.
Speaking of fried chicken, I could not resist (finally) trying the Masala Chicken Wings π
You definitely get hints of Masala spices in the crisp batter that coats the juicy chicken wings. Great to indulge your cravings or perhaps something for the kids? After all, you can’t go wrong with some #DeepFriedGoodness right!
It’s Prata galore as usual of course. Just take your pick!
The Murtabak is a really great choice if you’re looking for a hearty meal. Share it or have it all to yourself – best enjoyed hot-hot shiok-shiok! Same goes for the Coin Prata – an all-time favourite choice. I personally ask them to make it a bit extra garing for extra crispy bite π
You could also take your pick of the Naan, Thosai, Chapati and specials like the Poori and Uttapam!
Be sure to end your meal at Srisun Express on a sweet note with some desserts.
The Honeymoon Prata is always a great choice – it’s got bananas, chocolate sauce and condensed milk! But if you have an extra sweet tooth (like me) then try the Sticky Toffee Prata! Caramel sauce, Vanilla ice-cream and Speculoos!
I don’t think I even need to remind you of the array of beverages at Srisun Express. Be it hot or cold, the choices are plentiful. CONFESSION – I almost always order the Yakult Fruit Juices but I recently decided to expand my horizons π Try the Avocado Milkshake, Sam’s Special or a good ol’ foamy Teh Tarik! SHIOK!
Whether you’re filling up on the great makan or just lepak-ing with some drinks, Srisun Express is still the bomb. They’ve got 4 outlets now at Serangoon Gardens, Tampines, Bukit Batok and their newest outlet just opened at Ang Mo Kio! All outlets are certified Halal of course!
Great news – you can also enjoy your favourite Srisun Express dishes in the comfort of your own home or office! Get the food delivered right to your doorstep via your preferred food delivery service or order via their site at www.srisunexpress.com.sg ok!
