Shake Shack’s reputation definitely precedes it. I’ve had people raving to me about Shake Shack for the longest time and some people haven’t even tried it themselves. What burger can be so power to have this effect on people?
Well, today I found out – Shake Shack.
So the way it goes is you place your order when you enter the doors at Shake Shack. They have this whole line-up where you choose from the menu (which is not really very extensive to be honest) and then they give you one of those pager thingies so you wait for it to beep before you collect your food from the counter.
Condiments station is right after the collection counter by the way FYI. They’ve for ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise but you decide for yourself after you read this post if you need any condiments okay. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s start with the food!
Was REALLY excited when we received the Cheese Fries because you’ve gotta admit it looks pretty spectacular right. Plus with the extra cherry peppers we added on, looked like it was gonna be the bomb!!
Kwang kwang kwang… errrrr not quite what we expected!
First things first – there was really not enough cheese sauce at all on these Cheese Fries. Maybe more cheese sauce might have made a little bit of difference?
And I’m personally a fan of shoestring potato fries so these crinkle cut fries would not have been my first choice LOL but that’s a personal preference. What’s the main reason this dish didn’t work for us?
The cherry peppers did give a little bit of a spicy kick to the cheese fries (which they are supposed to) but it’s not THAT spicy lah okay by the way. But we didn’t realize when we ordered that the cherry peppers were pickled.
That’s right. Pickled cherry peppers. This means that besides just adding a little spicy heat to the cheese fries, it also added a whole tangy sour vinegar flavour which totally overwhelmed everything when you take a mouthful. And you’re obviously going to scoop up a big forkful of everything there right?
Maybe they might want to re-think the whole cherry peppers thing? Just saying.
I know we were there for the burgers but I couldn’t resist ordering a hotdog on the menu. They have a few options including the New York Style Hotdog and Cheese Hot Dog but I settled on what seemed like the most spectacular of the lot LOL
I quite like hotdogs but there’s really nowhere we can go to get a proper one I guess in SG. Yeah I know we’re all thinking Coney Dog but no more A&W means I end up making my own hotdogs at home in the end. So that’s why I always order a hotdog when I see one available.
So here’s an all-beef hotdog with onions, cucumber, pickle, tomato, sport pepper, Rick’s Pick Shack relish and finished off with mustard and a good sprinkle of celery salt. Sounds like a good ol’ classic hotdog to me I’ll say that!
Overall this hotdog was not bad if you’re a fan of hotdogs. It’s got all the makings of a classic hotdog including small touches like the whole pickle wedge and celery salt.
But as much as I like it, I guess I’ll probably end up ordering the burgers when I visit Shake Shack.
And you’re about to find out why.
And I present to you the signature classic burger at Shake Shack – The Shackburger.
The beef patties at Shake Shack are 100% all-natural Angus beef which means it’s the real deal. And you can tell the quality when you bite into the burger. The patties are not too thick so they get cooked through nicely and also have a nice char too. The patties were also seasoned just right. Absolutely perfect!
So you’ve also got cheese, lettuce and tomatoes to round everything up. Makes for a super satisfying bite.
The buns are potato buns by the way.
I’m even going to go as far as to say that the Shackburger is now officially my favourite burger.
It’s simple. It’s bloody delicious. And I love it.
This is exactly why everyone has been raving about Shake Shack I see it now! LOL
And it’s not even over yet!
Here’s another burger we tried which had the same great 100% Angus beef patty plus some extras.
There was hickory-smoked veal bacon with cheese and some of that cherry pepper. Yeah THAT cherry pepper.
Again, the cherry pepper really overpowered everything so I guess I’d probably avoid it when I next order.
Here’s something that’s suitable as a vegetarian choice but I reckon you might actually order this even though you’re not a vegetarian!
When someone says ‘mushroom burger’ you’re probably thinking of a burger with a mushroom sauce as an accompaniment right? Well, no such thing here! The patty of the ‘Shroom Burger is actually 2 Portobello mushrooms that have been layered with 2 types of cheese (American and Cheddar) and coated in Panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) before being fried to crisp perfection.
The result is a ooey gooey cheesy goodness!
Great earthy mushroom flavour from the Portobello mushrooms and of course there is never anything wrong with cheeeeeeeeese.
I know I said the Shackburger was my favourite but this one is a close 2nd place LOL
If you really wanna go for the extreme and get the best of both worlds, then the Shack Stack is the one for you.
You’ve got a combination of 1x Cheeseburger and 1x ‘Shroom Burger which is sure to satisfy your hunger!
As for me, I prefer to not have them together like this because I want to enjoy the flavour of the beef patties and I didn’t really get to do that because of the mushroom and all sorts of things going on.
But one thing remains…
THE CHEESE IS SOOOOOOO GOOD!!
LOL oh yeah we also had some desserts too. I actually was not planning to try any but it was ordered anyways and yet again I was left standing corrected.
The ‘Concrete’ at Shake Shack is not just any ordinary ice-cream okay let’s get that straight. It’s made of frozen custard which has less sugar and more egg yolks. This means it’s denser, doesn’t melt as quickly and is super tasty because it’s so rich!
You’ve got a few choices for flavours including Shack Attak (for chocolate lovers), Strawberry Banana Trifle, Dubai Malt (exclusive to Dubai Mall), Vanilla Toffee Twirl or you can even custom design your own Concrete.
But we highly recommend the Red Velvet Concrete! It’s creamy and rich with Red Velvet cake crumbs and cream cheese to give it that extra oomph! We ended up keeping this til the very end LOL
You’ve got quite a few choices for beverages as well. Besides the obvious soft drinks, you might consider the Shack-made Lemonade. I had the Blueberry Lemonade which had a sweet edge to it along with the tang of the Lemonade.
They also have a selection of milkshakes too.
I had the Black and White which is Vanilla and Fudge all mixed up. I found it so-so but everyone was telling us that the Peanut Butter milkshake was really good so maybe can check that one out if you’re a fan of peanut butter!
Overall I’d say that Shake Shack is definitely a win and it looks set to be a big favourite if it reaches Singapore shores. Like I mentioned earlier, Shake Shack seems to have lots and lots of fans and I can see why people like it so much and more importantly – keep going back for more. Hope they can manage the prices accordingly though.
