Digging into a nice big pile of sauce seafood that’s just been poured out of a bucket sounds exactly like the kind of Iftar plan we’d go for this Ramadan 😛 How about you? Yes? Yassssssss!
Well, it’s great news then that Cajun on Wheels has got a Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast that’ll have you licking your fingers once you’re done. (PLEASE resist the temptation of licking the table LOL) They’ve got 2 different feasts to choose from but we’re gonna specifically rundown the one we tried when we visited.
Presenting – the Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast!
It’s got pretty much everything you need for a party of 4 to whack when you buka puasa. In fact, you might even have space to add a few extra items too to be honest.
You can start with the Loaded Fries where you can choose a sauce you’d like to top the fresh, hot fries. You’ve got Cajun Cheese, Salted Egg Yolk, Chilli Egg, Cheesy Soil and BBQ. Personal recommendation – go for the Salted Egg Yolk Sauce! We’ll tell you the reason for this recommendation a little later on okay 😀
Next up is an item that is actually new to the menu line-up at Cajun on Wheels and it’s actually a pretty great idea too. BBQ Chicken Wings sounds like a relatively simple idea but it’s sooooo good.
The BBQ Chicken Wings (10 pieces to be exact) are the classic BBQ style and would be great for any kids around. But if you’re looking to add some kick, they come with a Sambal Belacan dipping sauce! Yes, Sambal Belacan sauce has been missing from the Cajun on Wheels menu for awhile but it’s back with a vengeance! PRO TIP: It’s called Sambal Chilli Egg (you can thank us after you try it!)
It may not be for everyone but this combination definitely works for us!
And to be sure you get your fill, the set meal also includes 2x Pilaf Rice and 2x Aglio Olio pasta for good measure.
But now… it’s time for the main event!
The Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast has not just one but TWO buckets full of seafood to make sure you’re satiated after a whole day of fasting. What could be more satisfying right? The more the merrier and in fact, the serving is just right lah for 4 pax! Trust us, our agak-ration skills quite good LOL
The main star of the Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast happens to be specially created for this bundle. The Stone Crab even features a new sauce – the Rock Sugar Honey Sauce!
Besides the Stone Crab, you also have a good mix of corn and baby potatoes in there too.
Fresh crab is soooooooooooo good FUYOH you all know what I’m talking about when I say it’s damn shiok to dig into a delicious serving of crabs am I right? This one definitely hit the spot!
The Rock Sugar Honey Sauce is actually really good. I mean, I really did enjoy the Rock Sugar Honey Sauce but that’s probably because I have a really high tendency to enjoy food/sauce that’s a little bit more on the salty side LOL 😛 The Rock Sugar Honey Sauce is a mix of sweet, peppery (thanks to the black pepper) and salty. I guess that technically makes it really on the Umami side of the flavour spectrum.
And because it’s quite a coarse/thick sauce, you’re gonna love licking your fingers after dipping your crab meat in there. PRO TIP: In case it gets too heavy for you, counter that with something a little creamy. Which is why we recommend a sauce like the Salted Egg Yolk sauce for your Loaded Fries (are we smart or WHAT!)
And in case you’re wondering, you get to keep those little wooden mallets which come with any serving of crabs. In fact, the mallets seem to work better than those cracking tools we’re used to!
And just in case you’re have a craving for even MORE seafood, they throw in a bucket of Flexing Mussels in there too. Because, SEDAP! 😛
You may not have been able to choose the sauce for the Stone Crab (the Rock Sugar Honey Sauce is sedap anyways) but you can definitely choose the sauce for the Flexing Mussels. Have your mussels and clams prepared with Cajun Cheese, Cheesy Soil, Singapore Chilli Crab, Sambal Chilli Egg, Salted Egg Yolk, Herb & Butter, and Thai Red Curry sauce. I think we missed the Sambal Belacan so much that we opted for the Sambal Chilli Egg in the end LOL
Now, THAT’S what I call a Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast 😀
The Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast is available from 17th May til 14th June 2018 at both Cajun On Wheels outlets in Suntec Pasarbella and Plaza Singapura. The Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast is priced at $119 (which is a steal!) and is good to be shared among about 4 people.
As a bonus when you dine at their Plaza Singapura outlet, you can enjoy free-flow ice cream in-store throughout the month of Ramadhan! Even if you’re not enjoying the Sweet Ramadan Bundle Feast (which you really should) because it’s just a minimum spend of $10 to get to that free-flow of ice-cream 😛
PS for those visiting Cajun on Wheels Express at the Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre, fret not! They may not have the exact same bundle there but they do have the Ramadan Bundle Feast which is priced at $75 and included a serving of Oh Crab!, Flexing Mussels Loaded Fries and the Pilaf Rice / Aglio Olio combo.
If you feel like digging in the buckets of seafood in the comfort of your own home, you can arrange for Cajun On Wheels to either deliver to your home/office or even arrange for a pre-order pick to beat the queue (and make sure you make it back in time for Iftar!).
