NESTLÉ NESTUM – A Favourite For All Generations

I remember enjoying NESTLÉ NESTUM as far back as my childhood. Growing up, it was one of my favourite treats especially as a hot snack on a rainy day or as a pick-me-up when I was a little under the weather. Of course, back then the popular pick was the legendary NESTLÉ NESTUM All Family Cereal and it was always a big tin in our household.

Over the years, the line-up of great NESTLÉ NESTUM products has definitely grown! Not only have they added more flavour variations on top of the classic Original flavour but also more products where we can still enjoy that NESTLÉ NESTUM goodness we all know and love. From our favourite All Family Multi-Grain Cereal to the multiple flavours of 3-in-1 mixes, there’s something for everyone 😁

Besides enjoying your NESTLÉ NESTUM products as they are, there are plenty of other great ways to enjoy them too. You can find plenty of ideas online but I tried my hand at a few that I thought y’all might fancy trying too!

One of those recipes I tried is actually a classic snack that’s gone a LEVEL UP thanks to some NESTLÉ NESTUM All Family Cereal. That’s right I’m talking about some Cucur Udang with Nestum Cereal 🙌🏼 Simple to prepare and perfect to enjoy for Iftar, to serve to guests during Hari Raya or even just as a teatime snack any time at all.

Ingredients
170gm              Plain flour
1 tsp                   Baking powder
80gm                 NESTLÉ NESTUM All Family Cereal Original.
1/2 tsp              Salt (optional)
5 stalks             Chinese chives aka Koo Chye
200gm              Medium-sizes prawns (de-shelled and de-veined)
180ml               Water

Method
1. Sift flour, baking powder and NESTUM together into a mixing bowl (and also salt if you prefer)
2. Add water and mix until you get a thick batter
3. Add some chooped prawns and Chinese chives aka Koo Chye and mix well
4. Heat oil in pot for deep frying. When oil is hot, coat ladle with some oil (to prevent sticking)
5. Scoop some batter into ladle, top with whole prawn and submerge to deep-fry in oil
6. Once fritter is golden brown, remove from oil and let rest
7. Serve with chili sauce and enjoy!

I have to be honest and say how happy I was when this turned out so awesome. I mean, we all know a classic snack like Cucur Udang aka Prawn Fritters but adding the NESTLÉ NESTUM All Family Cereal really made such a difference! The flavour of the cereal is quite mild here because you get most of the flavour from the prawn and dipping sauce of course. But the NESTLÉ NESTUM cereal gave it such a nice crisp!

Trust me on this – you have to try this recipe to see what I’m talking about 💪🏼

115 ml                    Milk
2 medium            Eggs
1 tsp                       Vanilla essence
1/4 tsp                  Salt (optional)
125ml                   Vegetable oil / melted unsalted Butter
1 cup                      Chocolate Chips

Method
1. Add oil, milk, vanilla essence and eggs into mixing bowl
2. Add All Purpose Flour, Baking Soda and Baking Powder and mix til you get a thick batter
3. Add NESTLÉ NESTUM All Family Cereal and mix
4. Add Chocolate Chips (or any other filling like raisins etc also can!)
5. Scoop batter into muffin tray. Use an ice-cream scoop it’s neater and faster!
6. Bake in oven at 180°C for 20 mins. Insert toothpick to check – if middle is dry, it’s done.
7. Allow to cool and enjoy!

Another simple recipe you can whip up at home in no time. Plus it’s a great activity to do with the kids too! And speaking of kids, adding NESTLÉ NESTUM is a great way to get some nutrition and fibre into their diet 😉

Anyways, you can always modify the recipe to suit your tastes of course. Swap out the chocolate chips for raisins or maybe add frosting and sprinkles also can! The NESTLÉ NESTUM add both fibre and flavour to your muffins so it’s a win!
