National Day is almost upon us this year! Have you put up your flag yet? 🇸🇬 Along with the festivities, we’re always getting special creative dishes made just for National Day! What better time than now to showcase our local flavours an our passion for makan am I right?
We’ve compiled a list of more than TEN National Day special creations to commemorate our nation’s birthday 💪🏼 Give them a try and let us know which ones you liked best ok! And if you spot any more, drop us a message and we’ll update the list!
1. CHILLI CRAB (OLD CHANG KEE)
Heritage brand Old Chang Kee has got a crowd favourite back this year! You can enjoy their delicious Chilli Crab Sauce in not just one but TWO ways to celebrate our nation’s birthday!
If you’re on the go, grab some of Old Chang Kee’s Chilli Crab Sauce with Fried Mantou. You get 4 pieces of Fried Mantou (which are fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside!) paired with their in-house special Chilli Crab Sauce. You also add-on for more Chilli Crab Sauce if you’d like! If you head down to Old Chang Kee Coffee House, you can enjoy the Chilli Soft Shell Crab with signature Flower Bread (this bread legit sedap I can tell you) perfect for sharing. You can also order to have it delivered to you too 😁
These special Old Chang Kee offerings are available from 15th July til 31st August.
2. POKE NASI LEMAK (POKE THEORY)
For all you lovers of all things Nasi Lemak, Poke Theory has got their very own special Poke Nasi Lemak 😁
Chunky cubes of salmon have been mixed with a sweet-spicy sambal chilli and sit atop a bed of pandan-infused rice. Savour the flavour of the sambal chilli which has just a hint of spicyness. That’s perfect so you can still enjoy the freshness of the rest of this seasonal bowl. You’ll also find other delightful accompaniments to your Poke Nasi Lemak like smoked almonds and a beautiful ramen egg 😍
The Poke Nasi Lemak is available for a limited time at all 16 Poke Theory outlets and also via your favourite delivery platforms.
3. RENDANG PEPPER RICE, TEPPAN SATAY & KUEH SALAT CAKE (PEPPER LUNCH)
If you love flavours that pack a punch then Pepper Lunch has got some special you might like.
The Rendang Fiesta series features a beloved flavour. Choose from Rendang Beef Pepper Rice with Egg or Rendang Chicken Pepper Rice with Egg and enjoy their signature Pepper Rice with that familiar savoury Rendang flavour. You can also look forward to Pepper Lunch’s special Teppan Satay sizzling plate meal which features Satay Diced Cut Steak (Aust. Beef) and Chicken (you can choose either or go for the Combo to enjoy both!) which comes with peanut sauce and sides of diced pineapple and broccoli. Round off with some Kueh Salat Cake for dessert.
The Rendang Fiesta series is available til 31 August while the Satay Teppan and Kueh Salat Cake are available til 14 September at all Pepper Lunch outlets.
4. CURRY POTATO BAGUETTE (DELIFRANCE)
Délifrance has released their special Curry Potato Baguette with more special dishes on the way.
Savour the flavour of their Chicken Curry Stew (with chicken and potato) along with their signature baguette. Watch this space as we will update once Délifrance has announced more dishes!
5. ALL THINGS DELICIOUS
Celebrate with All Things Delicious as they continue to churn out delectable treats for any and all occasions!
They’re going all Red & White with some special treats including their Lychee Strawberry Tart (mascarpone with chopped lychees, fresh strawberries and 24K gold edible leaf), Red & White Choux (vanilla-bean chantilly cream, fresh strawberries and berry compote), Cempedak Loaf, Ondeh-Ondeh Cake, Sepal Takraw Rolls (from last year!) and much more.

6. CHILLI CRAB SERIES (SWENSEN’S)
Chilli Crab dishes abound at Swensen’s this National Day! They’ve got quite a line-up and they ALL incorporate the flavours of this beloved dish.
Enjoy Chilli Crab inspired dishes like Chilli Crab Pasta, Chilli Soft Shell Crab Burger, Chilli Crab Baked Rice and even Chilli Crab Pizza. PLUS word on the street is that they even have a CHILLI CRAB ICE CREAM but that’s so limited edition that it’s not going to be for sale so you’ll have to keep updated on their social media channels to find out how to snag some for yourself!
This special menu at Swensen’s is available from now til 30 August.
7. LAKSA BURGER, PULUT HITAM PIE & TEH C FRAPPE (MCDONALD’S)
McDonald’s has literally just announced their National Day specials line-up and they’ve got some pretty interesting stuff.
First up is their Laksa Burger – you can choose a crispy Prawn or Chicken patty – which comes with a creamy Laksa sauce, egg and some slaw. Pair that with a Teh C Frappe and some Pulut Hitam Pie for dessert. Available from 28 July 2022 for a limited time only.
8. SAMBALICIOUS SERIES (KENNY ROGERS ROASTERS)
Kenny Rogers Roasters is looking to spice up your National Day with their Sambalicious offerings.
Get your flame on with Kenny’s Sambalicious Seafood/Chicken Pasta, Sambalicious Chicken Chop, Sambalicious Nasi Lemak, Sambalicious Quarter/Half Meals, Sambalicious OMG Chicken and more. Round off your meals with some KitKat Lava Muffins and Pink Lychee Lemonade.
Enjoy at your nearest Kenny Rogers Roasters outlet or have your feast delivered to you. Available for a limited time only.
9. CHILLI CRAB SAMOSA (HOUSE OF SAMOSA)
Muslim-owned House of Samosas is well-known for their tasty Samosas and interesting flavours.
This National Day, they’re releasing a special Chilli Crab Samosa! Made with Sri Lankan Mud Crab and their very own Chilli Crab spices. A box of 10 is going for $57.57 so check out House of Samosas ok!
10. RENDANG BURGER & RENDANG SPECIALS (BURGER KING)
Here’s a crowd favourite that Burger King is bringing back. It used to be a permanent menu item but I guess it’s better to have it seasonal than not at all right?
The Rendang Burger is back! This time, it brought some of its friends too LOL check out Double Rendang Beef Burger, WHOPPERⓇ and Rendang TendergrillⓇ Chicken Burger. Top that all off with Rendang Shake (it’s a snack not a drink don’t worry), Rendang Drumlets plus Pulut Hitam Taro Pie.

11. SATAY CRUNCH (KFC)
If you’re a fan of the crispy KFC chicken, you’ll be happy to hear that they have released the Satay Crunch for National Day.
Your fave Hot & Crispy Chicken is now infused with Satay spices and flavours. They even have a peanut sauce to go along as well. So if you’re a fan of Satay, see if this matches up ok! Available at all KFC outlets and via delivery for a limited time.
12. LAKSA WRAP (LONG JOHN SILVER’S)
Long John Silver’s bring us the Laksa Wrap as part of their National Day special menu this year.
Choose either Spicy Fish or Spicy Chicken which is then wrapped in a tortilla with lettuce, tomato, hard-boiled egg and Laksa mayonnaise. It’ll be interesting to see how this Laksa special matches up to the other Laksa offerings this National Day!
I wonder if they’ll ever bring bring back their classic Wraps from the 90s…
13. LAKSA SPAGHETTI & CHENDOL ICE-BLENDED (CBTL)
More Laksa abound at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf!
Indulge in Laksa Spaghetti that’s brimming with flavour thanks to goodies like prawns, tofu bites and a hard-boiled egg. End off your meal on a sweet note with the Chendol Ice Blended®. It’s got chendol, azuki red beans and coconut milk, topped with gula melaka-infused whipped cream, toasted coconut flakes and MORE GULA MELAKA!

14. LAKSA SERIES (WOK HEY)
Fans of Laksa are really spoiled for choice with yet another Laksa special for National Day!
Wok Hey has a Laksa series where you can enjoy those unique Laksa flavours in either Fried Rice or as a Dry Laksa. Pair with Crab Meat, Braised Beef, Grilled Chicken or Seasoned Prawns plus plenty of wok hey of course. The noodles come with a Ramen Egg, Taupok and Taugeh while the rice comes with a Ramen Egg and cucumbers.
