Mr Biryani – Authentic Hyderabad Dhum Biryani!

My never-ending quest for a delicious serving of Biryani recently led me to Mr Biryani. Dhum Biryani seems to be a very common finding nowadays. But, you know as well as I do that not all of them are an authentic version. After all, a truly authentic serving of Dhum Biryani can be quite a challenge to prepare!

The good news is that… *SPOILER ALERT* Mr Biryani serves up some of the best Dhum Biryani I’ve had in a long time 🙌🏼. We had the pleasure of sampling a plethora of dishes! As always, we’re gonna start with the main highlight of the feast!

Hyderabad Chicken Dhum Biryani

Let me start by saying WOW! I have had a lot of Hyderabadi Dhum Biryani before and this one from Mr Biryani reminds me why I love it so much. Many of you Biryani connoisseurs will know that Dhum is the way to go and they’ve mastered it here. Authentic Dhum Briyani is famously tedious to prepare. So it’s very important at Mr Biryani that they follow their age-old cooking methods. And the results are spectacular 😁.

The Basmati rice was fragrant, fluffy and flavourful which is the perfect base to your perfect Dhum Biryani. When you lift the cover on your serving at Mr Biryani, the aroma that rises will definitely have your mouth watering! Pair that with the tender meat (I went for the Chicken this time) that’s brimming with bold flavours thanks to the spices that not only marinated the meat but now coat it as well. Something unique at Mr Biryani is that they serve their Dhum Biryani with a sweet-savoury peanut gravy that you simply have to try.

Hyderabad Chicken Dhum Biryani

One of the main characteristics of the Hyderabad-style of Dhum Biryani is that the flavours of the spices are extra bold. This will definitely suit those who love spicy food and when the flavours on your plate mix together, it’s next level for sure 🤤 They explained to me the meticulous method and effort that goes into their Dhum Biryani and all that hard work pays off. Next time, I’m definitely coming back to try their Hyderabad Mutton Dhum Biryani for sure!

In fact, they’ve got no less than SIXTEEN different types of Biryani for you to enjoy at Mr Biryani! From Lamb Shank Biryani and Mutton Kofta Biryani to weekend specials like Jackfruit Dhum Biryani and Fish Tikka Biryani among others.

Lamb Shank Masala

Kampong Chicken Masala

Speaking of bold flavours – you’ve gotta try the Masala dishes at Mr Biryani! Plenty to choose from for sure 😎.

I mentioned the Lamb Shank Biryani earlier and I managed to try the Lamb Shank Masala. Great Masala flavour for sure that you can enjoy with piping hot Rice or maybe even some Naan too! Just the right balance of flavours and fiery spices 🔥. And Chicken Masala is probably a staple for many but have you had Kampong Chicken Masala before? My first time trying at Mr Biryani!

Gongura Mutton

Butter Chicken

Garlic Naan

Plenty to enjoy when it comes to Tandoor & Curries too at Mr Biryani. Take your pick from a selection of no less than 7 different types of Naan (my personal faves are Garlic & Cheese Naan and the Butter Naan too!).

Curries galore including Fish Goan Curry, Mutton Kofta Curry, Mutton Kurma and they even have Haleem on the menu too! We went with something classic ans also something we’re trying for the first time. Have you ever tried Gongura Curry? It is actually made with the leaves of the Roselle plant so it’s packed with flavour but milder than your usual curries. We tried the Gongura Mutton but they also have Gongura Chicken and Gongura Paneer too.

And I simply cannot resist a serving of the classic Butter Chicken. Especially served with Naan or some piping hot rice, this is one of the top most delicious comfort foods in my book for sure ❤️. Next time I’m remember to accompany with some Palak or Butter Masala Paneer for sure 😝.

Andra Prawn Fry

Bhindi Pali Fry

And we rounded off our feast with some more delicious food on the side. Andhra Prawn Fry showcasing the fresh seafood on offer at Mr Biryani and we definitely have to order some veggie so we chose Bhindi Pali Fry.

Those 2 dishes were perfect examples of how they use top quality ingredients at Mr Biryani. The seafood was fresh and the vegetables were too! The Okra (aka Ladyfingers) used in the Bhindi Pali Fry were perfect with a little crunch and not at all mushy which can be a big turn off. So you can tell it’s fresh and quality ingredients plus good cooking techniques for sure!

And with all the food we’ve featured so far, that’s just a small part of the menu 😮. There’s PLENTY more to enjoy at Mr Biryani and something for everyone on their menu.

In case you’re looking for an event space, you should definitely place Mr Biryani on your shortlist. Besides the ample seating on the ground level, they also have an event space on the 2nd floor that’s perfect for all sorts of functions. The entrance to the stairs leading to the 2nd floor is outside so don’t worry about having to cross the main restaurant 😁.

It’s spacious with plenty of room for tables and chairs plus standing room too. There’s a special corner for the tasty Mr Biryani makan to serve your guests and even a special area for a small dais or stage too. Multimedia connections available with an audio system plus TWO widescreen TVs 💪🏼
