Fish & Chicks

YASSSSSSSS! It’s finally here! Over the past couple of months, you would have heard the news and seen their outlets getting certified one by one.. FISH & CHICKS IS FINALLY HALAL!!

Wah. Let me tell you ah – you would not believe the number of messages we received both before and after. Before it was certified, we’ve been getting messages to ask if it is Halal and if they would ever apply (like macam we can predict like that LOL). After it was certified, our readers sent us DMs to alert us that they were finally certified and also to ask if we had visited yet.

Fish & Chicks has gained a reputation for not only serving up some really fantastic food but also being really affordable! They operate out of food courts! Power or what!

Well, here you go! Our first visit to Fish & Chicks!!

Best Of Both Worlds ($14.80)

Best Of Both Worlds ($14.80)

Seeing double? LOL not at all – The Best of Both Worlds gives you the opportunity to enjoy not just one but TWO of their signature flavours of Fish & Chips! And both looked so good, that we snapped photos of both the flavours and couldn’t decide which one looked better so we put both above for you LOL

The Best Of Both Worlds is pretty much an supersized version of their Fish & Chips. The best part is that they do tend to come up with some fantastic sauces to go along with their dishes and this particular dish let you sample and enjoy two of their most popular – Salted Egg sauce and Chili Crab sauce!

Red and Gold.. like macam Iron Man a bit eh ๐Ÿ˜›

The Fish & Chips has a great batter coating. Crisp and tasty and although it is best enjoyed when it is served piping hot (they cook to order!), even after awhile, the batter still remains crisp so you can still enjoy a bit of a crunch as you chomp down.

The Chili Crab and the Salted Egg sauces are… LEGIT.
I mean, I enjoyed them so much that I could not decide which one I liked more (although Salted Egg always has an edge over anything else LOL). We found out that they make pretty much everything from scratch and that included these sauces too!

You can, of course, order them separately if you like – the Chili Crab Fish & Chips and the Salted Egg Fish & Chips are priced at $11.60 each. You could also go for their classic Fish & Chips ($8.50) but we’d recommend you level up with the sauce! All Fish & Chips comes with chips (like duh!) and a choice of an additional side (more on the Sides later okay!)

Fish & Lobster ($19.90)

Speaking of levelling-up… ๐Ÿ˜€

Look out for specials on the menu at Fish & Chicks! When we visited, we were in for a treat because they had a selection of Lobster dishes on the menu!! And the best part is that the prices were still very reasonable for such a premium ingredient!

Fish & Chicks serves up a more than decent sized Boston Lobster half for their Fish & Lobster. You have the option of either their special Chili Sauce, Cheese or (our choice) the Mentaiko!

All you Japanese food lovers will probably recognize Mentaiko (made of pollock/cod roe + mayonnaise). It’s super creamy, super sedap and they are very generous with the serving! We dare you not to swipe some of the Mentaiko as soon as you get your dish ๐Ÿ˜›

It goes super well with the lobster (which was a tad tough in certain areas) and of course, you get to double-up with their super popular Salted Egg Fish & Chips which is also part of the dish.

Lobster with Mentaiko Pasta ($16.90)

They also have a pasta dish and this one is definitely got the Mentaiko lovers (like us!!)

Enjoy creamy delicious Mentaiko pasta with half a Boston Lobster – and yes, we double Mentaiko-ed it LOL It’s soooo sedap lah you have to trust us on this.

The 3rd dish on their special Lobster menu is the Whole Lobster which comes with fries and side and you also get to choose your topping (Chili, Mentaiko or Cheese) for your lobster. Guess how much is the price? $26.90 only!!

Salted Egg Pasta with Chicken ($10.50)

So we’ve been talking a lot about the Fish.. now it’s time for the Chicks..
Chickens that is ๐Ÿ˜›

Want more pasta? No problem!
We went with the Salted Egg Pasta which really makes us confirm plus chop that Fish & Chicks serves up some really irresistable pasta! First the Mentaiko and now Salted Egg?? ZOMG power to the max!

Look at that golden treasure right there *droooolz*
Creamy and sedap to the max. I think next time I need to order two servings of pasta – one Mentaiko and one Salted Egg LOL

You actually have a choice of Fish or Chicken to go with your pasta and we went with their chicken which turned out to be a good choice. Tender chicken with a really great crispy exterior. Safe to say that Fish & Chicks really knows how to make a good batter! I guess you could say that the make a… better batter (geddit geddit).

*crickets*

Hawaiian Chicken ($9.50)

They’ve got other FRIED chicken on the menu too like their Whole / Half Spring Chicken, Chicken Wings and Chicken Cutlet. But, they also have some chargrilled options too like the Black Pepper Chicken, Hot & Spicy Chicken and this one – the Hawaiian Chicken.

Think of it as… like a Hawaiian Pizza but.. it’s Chicken ๐Ÿ˜›

Tender chicken fillet topped with some tomato sauce, cheese and pineapples. And no, it’s not the same issue as having pineapples on your pizza. This one is chicken so it’s fine and actually really tasty!

Tom Yum Pasta ($10.50)

Like we said, be sure to look out for special menu / dishes at Fish & Chicks when you visit okay! They apparently comes up with new ideas pretty often! This time, we saw a special ‘Take Me to Thailand’ menu!

Thai Chili Fish & Chips and Green Curry Chicken Cutlet were on that menu but we went with something that really got our mouths watering ๐Ÿ˜€

The Tom Yum Pasta has this really full-flavoured Tom Yum broth so you really get slurping LOL
Atop the pasta, they crown it with some of their signature Fish & Chips (minus the chips of course!)

It’s not as spicy as we expected but still really tasty and will have you digging in for more and more!

Fries

Mashed Potatoes

Coleslaw

Cheese Pasta

Onion Rings

As you can see, quite a selection of Sides to choose from on the menu. We wanted to give you a ‘highly recommended’ section but to be honest – the ones that we tried were all really good!

The only one we didn’t get to try was the BBQ Bakes Beans LOL (kesian Baked Beans…)

And in case you’re wondering about that Purple Coleslaw – our educated guess it that there’s probably some (Blue)berries incorporated in there for a bit of natural sweetness and tart-ness. 2-in-1 flavour solution!

Fish & Chicks has got a great selection that’s not only creative and tasty but also very very VERY reasonably priced. I think it’s great that they operate out of a food court setting because this not only means that prices can be kept affordable but you also get to enjoy your food in a chillax and convenient setting. They’ve got 4 outlets okay!!

Yes, you can probably cover their regular menu in a few visits but once you find your favourites, you are bound to keep heading back for sure. Plus, don’t forget – they do have special menus so keep checking back on their social media accounts to keep updated okay!

PS muchos gracias to the team from Gaya Magazine for coming to makan with us!
