The buffet at AquaMarine has become one of the most popular Halal-certified buffet lines in SG over the past couple of years. Amazing spreads with tasty food and creative themes means great news for all you buffet lovers out there π
If you’re a fan of crabs, lobsters, oysters and all manner of crustaceans and seafood, then AquaMarine’s Crustacean Nights will sound swimmingly good to you! *GEDDIT GEDDIT* π
For their Dinner Buffet on Tuesday and Thursday nights, they’ve got a special line-up that feature more seafood! Don’t worry, they’ve still got the other great dishes (and desserts!) still available but these 2 nights are where you can go crazy about crustaceans at AquaMarine.
Let’s give you a sneak peek!
And THAT was just the chilled seafood on ice section! Plenty to choose from including the all-time favourite fresh oysters which are served on a chilly bed of ice. PRO TIP: these babies move really quickly so be on the lookout for fresh top-ups. But at the same time, remember to take only what you can makan okay π
Be sure to also grab some of the special dips they have to enjoy with your chilled seafood!
Plenty of Crustacean (and seafood) dishes to enjoy besides just the chilled variety of course.
The Wok-Fried Kung Bao Australian Marron is pretty interesting especially if you’ve never tried Marron (a kind of crayfish) and really good Kung Bao flavour to savour. Black Pepper Crabs needs no introduction and is a hot favourite with many for sure.
But a definitely MUST TRY is the Crispy Soft-Shell Prawn with Cereal and Chicken Floss! I mean, I’m not really a big fan of prawns to be honest but if you’re like me (and don’t like to shell prawns) then this is great! Just whack with the shell and all! Cereal and Chicken Floss are even more bonus incentive to makan this dish! π
You may also have spotted 2 non-seafood dishes there LOL there are actually PLENTY of other dishes that are not seafood-themed but still great nonetheless. The Beef Steak with Creamed Mushrooms and Smoked Duck with Caramelized Orange Sauce are perfect examples of tasty dishes you cannot miss.
But be sure to leave space for the LIVE stations!
Pretty much EVERYTHING at the Crustaceans Night LIVE stations had us drooling when we visited. I think there’s just something about having something prepared freshly right in front of you that adds that little bit of extra kick to jump start your appetite π
They had this giant pan (kinda like a Paella Pan) with a whole host of seafood in a stew. Plenty of good flavours in there that you definitely should not miss. I’m sure that fans of lobster will make a beeline for the Boston Lobster Thermidor! The chef prep individual batches periodically so you’re guaranteed a freshly-prepared Lobster Thermidor to enjoy. But this popular dish also means that queues are quite common at this station but you’ll probably feel the wait is worth it lah right π
My pick at the LIVE station was actually the Organic Pumpkin Risotto with Shrimp Scampi. I was already impressed when I saw the Risotto but when they cooked up some Shrimp Scampi to top off the dish, I was totally sold! Creamy and tasty!
But hey, like we said, there’s more to the buffet than just the crustaceans. The usual delicious buffet line-up is still available to be savoured as usual.
PRO TIP: You must have the Sashimi at AquaMarine – some of the best available at ANY buffet in SG!
The Japanese station is really good (especially if you love Japanese food like us LOL) with Tempura, Karaage and Sushi available. Do also try the Udon, Soba and hot Chawanmushi!
I could go on and on about the numerous other stations that have some other great dishes but I cannot resist but go straight to one of our favourite sections at any buffet – DESSERTS!!
DURIAAAAAAAANNNNNN PENGAAAAATTTTTTT! π
No introductions needed and this is a big hit with all you durian lovers. Pure durian pulp is served up to you in a giant bowl ZOMG that’s a dream come true lah LOL Just be sure to be considerate and leave some for others π
BTW they also had Soya Bean Curds (at least they had when we visited) and it turns out to be a pretty good combo!
Another big time favourite is the Bread and Butter Pudding and the version at AquaMarine is sedap! Don’t forget to top off with some of that vanilla sauce π (Looks like not much raisins on top but inside quite more!)
Plenty of other desserts and cakes to choose from – both familiar and new. Interesting ones we spotted were the Prinsesstarta (Swedish Layer Cake) and the (SEDAP) Panna Cotta Cake. They also have ice-cream by the way!!
AquaMarine’s buffet is a daily affair but Crustacean Nights are available every Tuesday and Thursday from now til 31st July 2018. Dinner is priced at $72++ per adult and +$36 per child (6-12 years old).
ENJOY!
PS there’s a special series of dishes for their upcoming Singapore Heritage Buffet but we’ll keep that for later π
