We spent a few days in Hong Kong recently and visited some really great Halal makan spots. But the best part is that there were SO MANY MORE to enjoy that we simply didn’t get the chance to visit! I guess this just means that we will have to plan our next visit to Hong Kong soon!

1. ISLAMIC CENTRE CANTEEN

The Islamic Centre Canteen is one of if not THE most popular stop for Halal Dim Sum and more in Hong Kong. Located within the Masjid Ammar and Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre, this humble eatery has an extensive menu. Enjoy Dim Sum favourites, noodle & rice dishes, vegetable dishes and plenty more.

2. LADY 13 KITCHEN

@thehalalfoodblog A hidden gem located near the famous Ladies’ Market – be sure to check out Lady 13 Kitchen where you’ll find tasty and unique dishes π₯ Their signatures include Crab Roe Rice/Noodles and Lady Boss Foie Gras on Rice. I went with something simpler and the Char Siew Chicken Rice Noodles hit the spot especially with some Popcorn Chicken Cartilage on the side. Located in Mongkok near the famous Ladies’ Market, I’m surprised more people don’t know about this makan spot. Lady 13 Kitchen offers Hong Kong comfort food including their signatures like Crab Roe Noodles/Rice, Lady Boss Foie Gras on Rice and plenty more. The best part is, of course, that’s it’s all Halal!

3. MAROUF COFFEE & PUFF BAKE

This cafe/bakery is fast becoming a hotspot for Muslim traveler to Hong Kong. Enjoy premium coffee from Marouf Coffee and exquisite bakes from Puff & Bake at one spot! Signatures include their Sourdough Egg Tarts, Manakish, Croissants and plenty more!

4. WAI KEE

@thehalalfoodblog Three generations later and Wai Kee still serves up some of the best Halal food in Hong Kong. Literal hawker vibes when you visit them at Bowrington Market π The roasted duck and mutton curry are MUST HAVES trust me π₯ and they were sold out because we visited late but add-on the stewed radish and extra veggies on the side! This is a personal favourite for me! On my first visit to Hong Kong many years ago, Wai Kee was recommended to me by so many readers that I simply had to visit. I loved it so much I visited 2 days in a row! You simply must try their signature Roast Duck (with rice or noodles) and also their Mutton Curry – trust me.

Another super popular must-visit spot in Hong Kong is Islam Food. This place has been serving up Halal food in Hong Kong since 1950! You will find both tourists and even locals dining here which is a testament to the authenticity of its food. And when you visit, you’re going to want to order their famous Beef Buns aka Beef Goulash.

6. WOODLANDS

Don’t worry – we’re still in Hong Kong despite the familiar name of Woodlands popping up here. Coincidentally, we visited Woodlands for some familiar flavours like Dosa, Pau Bhaji, Masala Tea, Pani Puri and more Indian delights. A nice break in between all the local Hong Kong flavours for sure!

7. EBENEEZER’S

You’ll easily find multiple Ebenezer’s outlets located across Hong Kong. This popular brand is serving up Middle Eastern and Indian faves like Butter Chicken, Naan, Kebabs and even some Western favourites like Pizzas too, The perfect solution because there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the menu especially the kids.
