Hand-pulled noodles are all the rage these days! Over the past year or so, we’re seeing more and more Halal Lamian (hand-pulled noodles) places pop-up here in Singapore. That means we don’t have to travel to far to get our fix!
Lamian (literally translates to pulled/stretched noodles) originates from Lanzhou in China. You may be surprised to learn that a very large majority of the Lamian industry is actually Muslim-owned (by the Hui ethnic people in China). This explain why you’ll see many native Hui people overseas and specializing in Lamian!
While some may argue that the Lanzhou Lamian we enjoy here in Singapore (and even in Malaysia) may not be a 100% match to the ones enjoyed in China, I think it’s still safe to say that we’re lucky to be able to enjoy this Halal delicacy here 😀
So we’ve compiled a list of places you can go to enjoy some Lanzhou Lamian! The list may not be long but I think that once you’ve found your favourite, you’re all set! These noodles have a way of.. pulling.. you in *geddit geddit*
PS of course, we made sure to personally visit each and every one of the places on this list!

Some may not know this – Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles 舌尖尖兰州牛肉面 is actually a very famous and popular brand that comes all the way from China! They have now opened 3 outlets in Singapore (Jurong Point outlet currently undergoing Halal certification).
Slurp up the Lamian as it swims in a very delicious broth. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their fiery Mala Lamian! Be sure to also order some side dishes including Braised Egg, Braised Peanuts, Black Fungus and, of course, extra beef too! You even get to choose from 8 different styles of Lamian including Thin, Thick, Flat and even Triangle 😀

2. Niu Zou La Mian
NIU ZOU LA MIAN
Location(s): Blk 325 Ubi Ave 1 (within Food Point food court) Singapore 400325
Operating Hours: 12.00am til 10.00pm DAILY
We literally chanced upon this stall one day which happens to be near our office 😛
The gentleman you see in the photo above is Musa – a Muslim from China. He’s pretty much a one-man show and you can see how much work he puts into perfecting his craft.
Lamian is pulled-to-order, which means slightly longer waiting times especially during peak hours like lunchtime. The menu has expanded since he first opened and now includes not only his signature Beef La Mian but also an array of dry/fried La Mian as well!

3. Núodle
NúODLE
Location(s): Singpost Centre 10 Eunos Road 8 #01-136 S 408600
Operating Hours: 12.00am til 10.00pm DAILY
This was probably the first Halal Lanzhou Lamian we tried here in Singapore!
The only have 3 types of La Mian on the menu – Signature Beef La Mian, Cool Mixed Beef La Mian (which is dry) and Seafood La Mian. Be sure to add on some of their tasty side dishes too!
Besides their delicious La Mian, be sure to also try their Beef Pancake and Spring Onion Pancake too. Super crispy and sedap! It’s little wonder why this place is so popular 😀

4. Yi Zun Beef Noodles
YI ZUN BEEF NOODLE 伊尊老字号拉面
Location(s): 45 Sam Leong Road S 207935 /
60 Joo Chiat Road #01-08 Champion Hotel S 427726
Operating Hours: 12.00am til 10.00pm DAILY
Yi Zun Beef Noodle 伊尊老字号拉面 is known as the OG Lanzhou Lamian shop in Singapore. It may no longer be the only one around but it was the first Halal Lanzhou Lamian when it first opened a couple of years ago!
Yi Zun Beef Noodle also has a really extensive menu which features more than just Hand-pulled Beef Noodles. Their Tomato & Beef Noodles come very highly recommended but I’m targeting their ‘Gold Beef Soup’ (whatever that might be) the next time I visit 😛
When it comes to side dishes, the Beef Salad was good but there was one that I found to be unique. I thought their ‘Vinegated Peanuts’ was braised peanuts (probably with some black vinegar) when I ordered it. It turned out to be crunchy peanuts with a black vinegar glaze! SEDAP GILER!!

5. China First Noodle
(Fork & Spoon Toa Payoh)
CHINA FIRST NOODLE LAN ZHOU BEEF NOODLE
Location(s): 470 Lor 6 Toa Payoh #02-70 Singapore 310470
Operating Hours: 9.30am til 9.30pm DAILY
This is the newest addition to the scene and in fact, a late edition to this list! Rushed down (after this list was already published) to check this place out after our readers alerted us on its existence!
A very convenient spot for all who work/reside in the Toa Payoh area. Fork & Spoon has had plenty of great food over the years and Lan Zhou Beef Noodles now makes an appearance 😀 The stall is run by Muslims from China (like most of the other places on this list) and they actually have a VERY extensive menu for a foodcourt stall. Also interesting that they serve a ‘Tea Leaf Egg’ on the side which was a nice touch.
The broth was VERY flavourful but I did find the noodles a bit bland and a bit too soft to the bite. Maybe I should have gone for the thicker variety (yes, you can still choose your noodle type!). Other interesting dishes on the menu include Cannonball Noodles (!!) and Onion Beef Rice.

BONUS – Mee Tarik Warisan Asli (Malaysia)
MEE TARIK WARISAN ASLI
Location(s): 28 outlets across Malaysia including Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and Malacca
Operating Hours: Varies with outlet
Our first experience with Lanzhou Lamian dates back to 2016 when we visited Bangi (near KL). That video above is literally the first time I was seeing (and learning) about this thing called ‘hand-pulled noodles’. This was my first time seeing it and I was utterly amazed!
Anyways, fast forward a few years and we’ve eaten a lot more Lamian since then 😛
And yes, we had to include Mee Tarik Warisan Asli! They have pages upon pages of dishes to choose from including both Soup / Dry Lamian and even some Rice dishes featuring their spicy meats.
Speaking of which – be sure to order extra meats! Plenty of beef chicken and lamb to savour 🙂

Well, that’s the list for now. Plenty of Lanzhou Lamian to be savoured and slurped 😀
I don’t know about you but just typing out this post has made me crave for some noodles!
PS If you have an addition to our list, be sure to drop us a message or an email okay!
