Salted Egg oh Salted Egg.. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
LOL but seriously we really love Salted Egg and we know that YOU do too!! 😛

All you Salted Egg / Salted Egg Yolk / Salted Egg Anything lovers – REJOICE!
There’s a campaign going on now called the “Salted Egg Shiok!” campaign and you can probably tell by its name that this is gonna be a super fantastic (and delicious!) campaign for sure!

So how does this Salted Egg Shiok! campaign work? Well, it’s super simple – enjoy your favourite Salted Egg dishes (or even a few new ones!) around Singapore and get rewarded for it!

There are a few things going on at the Salted Egg Shiok website but the main thing we want to highlight to you is the Salted Egg Shiok! O Meter Grand Lucky Draw! You literally stand the chance to win great prizes for enjoying your favourite Salted Egg dishes and sharing it on your own Instagram! So simple!

The way the Shiok! O Meter works is that the more #SaltedEggShiok hashtags are registered (i.e. the more posts there are), the prizes get bigger and bigger and BIGGER!

As of today (22nd September 2017), about 600+ Salted Egg dishes have been enjoyed and tagged on Instagram with the hashtag #SaltedEggShiok and this has so far unlocked the Tier 2 prize which happens to be a 3D2N TRIP FOR 2 TO BANGKOK!! (Tier 1 was a Staycation at MBS btw!)

But remember – the more and more hashtags are registered, the bigger the prize gets!
The Tier 3 prize is 4D3N TRIP FOR 2 TO HONG KONG but I am very sure that everyone is going to work hard to unlock the grandest prize of them all… The TIER 4 prize is a 5D4N TRIP FOR 2 TO JAPAN! ZOMG!!

There are also up to 100x GRAB vouchers to be won but there can be only ONE winner for the grand prize!!

STEP 1: Snap a photo of your salted egg dish from now till 31 Dec 2017
STEP 2: Post it on Instagram and hashtag #SaltedEggShiok
STEP 3: Set your Instagram profile to public for the contest duration

It’s super simple and you’re getting rewarded for just eating your favourite makan? ZOMG that’s a dream come true! A salted egg dream to be exact! LOL

You can view the whole list of participating outlets where you can enjoy the Salted Egg dishes to be snapped and posted with the hashtag #SaltedEggShiok at www.saltedeggshiok.com of course (and they even have an interactive map to lead you along your merry chase for Salted Egg Shiok!).

There is a LONG list and it does include both Halal and Non-Halal dining establishments in that list. So we thought we’d make it easier for everyone and list down some the Halal makan places (and the Salted Egg dishes too!) so y’all can spend less time hunting and more time eating. And hashtag-ging LOL 😛

There are actually a total of 21 but we’re going to give you the lowdown on the top 12 choices!
So without further ado.. it’s time to..

GET YOUR SALTED EGG SHIOK ON!

1. Sinar Malay Seafood
– San Lou Kway Teow
with Salted Egg Chicken

We first tried this dish when Sinar Malay Seafood introduced it as a new dish during Ramadhan earlier this year. Even though it’s a relatively new dish, it’s gained such popularity!!

We’re all used to Char Kway Teow that’s really strong on flavour (i.e. the black Char Kway Teow) but it’s actually nice to have one that has a milder flavour. Don’t get me wrong – it still has a great taste and it’s actually really nice. But let’s not forget that golden Salted Egg sauce that coats that crispy chicken chop. Perfect combination and super sedap!

Created as part of the Singapore Food Festival a couple of years back, this XL-sized prata has got a crisp layer of prata we all love and within, we get this generous layer of Salted Egg and bits of prawns along with the usual trimmings like chili padi and curry leaves for good measure.

We go out first taste during NDP 2017 (there was a mini-packed in the NDP Funpack!!) and we’re hooked! The Golden Duck Co. has both Salted Egg Yolk Fish Skin Crisps and Salted Egg Yolk Potato Crisps so take your pick of either or, like us greedy people, get both!!

PS The Golden Duck Co. is certified Halal but you might see some of their older packs on the shelves which are missing the Halal logo but their new packs should have the logo on the back okay!

Succulent prawns that have been de-shelled and coated in a batter before getting a nice deep fry to get a super crisp and shiok outer coating. Now, they add some Salted Egg Sauce (complete with chili padi and curry leaves!) into the mix and we have the ultimate sedap dish. So shiok and so power that one serving is surely not enough I tell you!
