Concorde Hotel Singapore – Mooncakes with Style

When we opened the package for Concorde Singapore’s Mooncakes, the first thing I said is “WOW!”. Packaging and boxing of mooncakes has become a really big part of the whole Mid-Autumn Festival in recent years. With some really interesting and innovative designs, you’d be surprised at some of the modern ones!

Well, with Concorde Hotel Singapore – you get not only delicious mooncakes but also a packaging that is both pretty, stylish and practical!

Some really pretty packaging! The boxes are actual wooden boxes which not only hold the treasure known as mooncakes within but can also be used later on! Perfect to keep your jewellery, trinkets or as a display if you ask me. Really good stuff!

And those little bunny rabbits are metal and screwed on right and proper. I’m really impressed with these boxes lah LOL (got Tiffany Blue leh!)

But of course, besides the packaging, the mooncakes are good too πŸ˜€

White Lotus Double Yolk

As you may (or may not) know, I’m actually a purist when it comes to mooncakes. Yeah, Snowskin and all that is really cool and pretty to look at with some pretty interesting flavours too. But I think it’s pretty hard to beat a traditional mooncake with lotus paste, melon seeds and a double yolk πŸ˜›

This mooncake checks ALL those boxes! FUYOH!

But if you are looking for something still in the Baked mooncake department but maybe with a little twist, then they might have something else you might be interested in.

Matcha Bamboo Charcoal Skin with Goji and Black Sesame

Could this be one of the most ultimate combination of flavours for a mooncake ever?? πŸ˜›

I think this is a really handsome mooncake. I know it sounds strange but the deep black really gives it a very sleek look that I guess you normally would not associate with food much less a mooncake. But besides the look – let’s get back to those flavours.

You don’t really get much taste from the Bamboo Charcoal (which I guess is more for the colour for the mooncake ‘skin’). The Matcha is definitely more prominent but still not very overwhelming to be honest. But you will get a kick from the Black Sesame center which acts as the ‘yolk’. I guess you do kind of have to fans of these flavours to really appreciate this mooncake πŸ™‚

[Believe it or not – that’s not a mash-up of two pics. That’s actually two halves of each mooncake that I had cut to take photos off and was packing it back to bring home. Kinda fit nicely together :P]

The mooncakes are sold in packages of 4 boxes and you can mix and match the mooncakes within. The price per box of 4 pieces of mooncakes range between $65-$72 (totally worth it!). Get yours now but hurry as they’re only available til 24th September 2018!

Concorde Hotel Singapore’s range of mooncakes are available for purchase at their in-house Spices Cafe. You can also reserve in advance by calling Spices Cafe at 6739 8370 or email to spices.chs@concorde.net plus get more information HERE!
